Welcome to CLaireLi Purely Maltese

If this is your first visit to our website, let me tell you a little bit about us. My name is Lise and I raise beautiful Maltese puppies in Ashton, Ontario Canada. Maltese have become a huge part of our family, first as pets, and over time my interest grew to breeding. At "ClaireLi Maltese", we are dedicated to the Maltese breed and we raise ONLY Maltese, each breeding being carefully planned. All of my parent angels are Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) registered and have been DNA tested, which establishes their purebred heritage and ancestry so you can be sure you're getting a pure Maltese, not mixed with any other breed.

We breed on a very small scale, with only 1 or 2 litters per year. Our focus is quality NOT quantity.

All of our Maltese are raised in our home and each enjoys daily cuddling, playtime, grooming and training time. This is how we ensure the health and quality as well as proper socialization of our puppies.

Raising Maltese puppies is something I thoroughly enjoy and I know without a doubt that my Maltese babies will bring as much joy to your heart and home as they have to mine. Please enjoy my site!

Adopting A ClaireLi Puppy

If you are seriously considering adopting a "ClaireLi Maltese" puppy, the first thing you need to do is go to the “contact” page to express your interest and tell us what you are looking for in a Maltese puppy. Potential new puppy owners are also asked complete an Application form.

We are particular about where our little ones go to live forever. We must be satisfied that the new owners are able to provide the puppy's basic needs of quality nutrition, vet care, grooming, training, and to provide the love and nurturing needed to have your puppy grow into the best dog ever.

Our goal is to provide new owners with a puppy which will become a long life companion just as our Maltese are ours.

Adoption FAQ

When is puppy ready for forever home?

At 12 weeks of age, your puppy will be ready to go to his new home. A contract will be reviewed and signed by both parties before the puppy leaves us.

What is included?

Your puppy will have his or her first set of puppy shots and will be completely dewormed. Our puppies are guaranteed for 2 full years against life-threatening congenital defects, and we furnish a health certificate and "report card" from our veterinarian, assuring you of a healthy, happy puppy!
Your puppy will be microchipped and registered with the Canadian Kennel Club.

Is a deposit required?

When the puppies are born, you may choose your new baby from pictures on my website. At that time, we will accept a money order, etransfer, personal check, or PayPal transaction for your non-refundable deposit of $500 to reserve your puppy. When your deposit reaches us, we will mark your puppy as reserved and you will be asked to choose a name you would to appear on the CKC registration

During the 12 week wait, as we get to know each other better through emails, Facetime or Skype, if for any reason we feel uneasy about placing one of my babies in your home, we will return your deposit. Understand that the well-being of our precious puppies is our priority.

When is the balance due?

We require cash, money order or e-transfer for the balance on the day you take your puppy home. If you need your new baby shipped to you, we require your balance to reach us before the puppy can be put on the flight.

I live out of town, how do I get my puppy?

You may pick your puppy up here at 12 weeks. If you choose, you may fly to Ottawa or Montreal to pick your puppy up at the airport and take him or her home as a carry-on. We are conveniently located 30 mins away from Ottawa International Airport or 1h45mins away from Montreal Airport.

We are willing to send your precious new Maltese puppy by air if need be, anywhere in Canada or in the continental USA. Continental Airlines and Air Canada offer a Climate-Controlled Program, which allows us to ship puppies at all times of the year. The puppies come off the plane happy, with their tails wagging, and are absolutely thrilled to meet their new owners!

However, if you prefer to have your puppy delivered to you in person, a courier service is also available. Air-Shipping cost and courier services vary and will be agreed upon prior to deposit.

I will be picking up my puppy, what will I need?

It is common sense to protect your new puppy right from day one. If you are travelling by car, you may use a soft or hard shell dog carrier to take your puppy home.

If you are travelling any distance, your puppy will need a potty break. You will need a collar and a light weight leash as well as water and a collapsible dish.

Finally, the puppy is home. Now what?

The first thing is to put the puppy on his pee spot (be it in a corner of the yard or on a training pad). Wait as long as it takes for the puppy to relieve himself. Praise your puppy as soon as he does his business.

The blanket you brought back with you should go in the crate and you can direct your puppy very gently towards the crate (if he hasn't already done it). At this point, the puppy can be either hungry and/or tired. I would suggest that you sit where you can supervise and let him get acquainted with his pen and eat if he wants to. He will probably go to sleep shortly.

Being excited fur parent, I’m sure you went out and got toys and treats for your new puppy but remember to take it slow. Introduce one simple ingredient treat (such as all natural liver treats) for training but do not overdue this. I would suggest one toy every two or three day so as not to overwhelm your baby.

Limit visitors for the first weeks. Your puppy has just left his litter mates and the only home he has ever known: a calm environment will help ease the transition to his forever family.

Your puppy has had only his first set of vaccination so he still is at risk. Do not take your puppy to the groomer’s or visit dog parks or yards that other dogs visit until he has completed the vaccines.
